Collective impact of various diverse organizations working together is a major component for societal change to occur. WFAO, Inc. understands the importance of a strong support system and we’re here to work together with those who support the transition and recovery of those in need and deserving. Our programs, resources, and services are being built to reduce the burden of visible and invisible wounds on the lives of our veterans we serve, and the families who provide support for them.
To rise against hunger, WFAO, Inc. connects with our community partners to provide food and other assistance to veterans and families affected by not having enough to eat, wear, etc. Our combine efforts are critical in establishing a sustainable food system.
The Willie F. Ash Organization, Inc. Outreach Program provides outreach missions to areas (primarily focused on Clayton County) with high concentration of homeless veterans. The mission provides food, water and clothing to those on the street.
Veterans Service Officers (VSO) will help you write and submit your benefits claims to the VA. Their services are free. They will help you gather the information that supports your claim. Once the claim is filed they will help you track the claim through the system. They can also help you file appeals for denied claims. It is important that you use a Veteran Service Officer. By using a VSO, they can help you avoid the delays that missing paperwork or improperly filled out claims can cause.
One of WFAO, Inc’s goals is to be an organization that provides a place where children and young adults can get support and guidance by connecting with adults that give personal and professional development. In collaboration with Raising BeYOUtiful Butterflies, a nonprofit organization that has a youth mentoring and empowerment development program for girls ages 4-21, this goal will be reached. Formal mentoring programs are essential for an organization that caterers to adults with children.
Benefits mentorship programs provide to organizations:
•Provide a positive role model who helps children and young adults reach their development goals through their own hard work and determination.
•Sounding board for problems, sensitive situations, etc. making them feel heard and valued.
•Promotes a cultural of learning
The Women's Respite Drop-in Center aims to provide a safe and welcoming environment for women (primarily veterans) in need of relief and support. The center will bring together a diverse range of resource and service providers to support and empower women in the community. The center is a voluntary program.
