The Willie F. Ash Organization is a community-based non-profit organization that provides assistance to veterans. Our purpose is to help veterans (primarily women), gain transition support from military to civilian life through accessing resources and services they so richly deserve.
We welcome you!
We are an organization that is a faithful non-profit service for veterans (focusing on women) and their families in transitioning from military to civilian life. What compelled the birth of the nonprofit were the overwhelming obstacles, extreme hardships, and many closed doors my family and I experienced in the daunting process in locating resources and navigating the Veteran Administration System to get help for my father.
On the journey of assisting male veterans, Felecia Ash, Founder came to realize that women veterans are the most underserved between the two; they tend to experience greater challenges than their male counterparts. Seeing the overwhelming gap between the help men veterans receive versus women caused her focus to be shifted from men to women and families. Therefore, after speaking to a few women veterans and hearing their stories and being a woman myself, I decided the Willie F. Ash Organization will continue serving “ALL” veterans; however, our primary focus are women veterans
Women have a need to be part of a community, especially those who no longer have the military community that they previously had. After leaving the military many women veterans struggle with loneliness, PTSD and/or the MST (Military Sexual Trauma), raising a child as a single parent, and many other challenges.
